How I Work

The quality of the relationship between client and therapist is often thought of as the key to effective therapy. Choosing a therapist is like picking out a new suit: the fit has to be just right for you to be relaxed and confident. It’s useful to regard the first couple of sessions as an assessment period, which gives the client a chance to get to know me and how I work. These sessions also allow me to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges the client is facing and how best to meet those needs.
Once the decision to work together has been made, we will collaborate on a therapeutic plan. How long the therapeutic process will take depends on the time the client is willing to set aside for therapy, the client’s goals and commitment to the process, as well as the complexity of the challenges faced. I meet with my clients once a week for a period of 50 minutes.
