Type of Therapy
I work with parents to explore resources and skills which may assist them to engage with their child’s the challenges. I assist with the implementation of effective discipline strategies and behaviour management programmes, tailored to meet each family’s unique needs. My therapeutic approach draws from Applied Behaviour Analysis, Positive Reinforcement Parenting and CBT.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
The CBT approach I use is considered a ‘third wave’ approach known as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). CBT is an empirically based therapy. The approach I make use of includes mindfulness and acceptance strategies as well as commitment and behaviour change plans in order to encourage psychological flexibility. For more information on the approach feel free to consult this very useful website https://contextualscience.org/act
I make use of a playful, play-based approach with children.
